{"id":704,"date":"2016-02-12T07:22:58","date_gmt":"2016-02-12T14:22:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wmbuck.net\/blog\/?p=704"},"modified":"2016-02-19T07:51:02","modified_gmt":"2016-02-19T14:51:02","slug":"reinstalling-libvirtd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wmbuck.net\/blog\/?p=704","title":{"rendered":"Reinstalling Libvirtd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hosed up the configuration of libvirt on Cinnamon, trying to change the network definition.<br \/>\nIt was so fouled up I decided to remove and reinstall libvirtd-bin, qemu, and virt-manager.<br \/>\nAfter the reinstall, the default network did not reappear, and I went looking for how to reinstall it. In the end I had to piece together various information, but the upshot is that the definition of networks for libvirt is in \/usr\/share\/libvirt\/networks. This directory was missing for me, and I had to recreated it:<\/p>\n<p>root@cinnamon:~# mkdir \/usr\/share\/libvirt\/networks<br \/>\nroot@cinnamon:~# cd \/usr\/share\/libvirt\/networks<br \/>\nroot@cinnamon:\/usr\/share\/libvirt\/networks# touch default.xml<br \/>\nroot@cinnamon:\/usr\/share\/libvirt\/networks# chmod 0777 default.xml<br \/>\nroot@cinnamon:\/usr\/share\/libvirt\/networks# emacs default.xml<\/p>\n<p>What I put into the file was:<br \/>\n&lt;network&gt;<br \/>\n&lt;name&gt;internal&amp;lt;\/name&gt;<br \/>\n&lt;bridge name=&#8221;virbr0&#8243; \/&gt;<br \/>\n&lt;forward\/&gt;<br \/>\n&lt;ip address=&#8221;192.168.122.1&#8243; netmask=&#8221;255.255.255.0&#8243;&gt;<br \/>\n&lt;dhcp&gt;<br \/>\n&lt;range start=&#8221;192.168.122.2&#8243; end=&#8221;192.168.122.254&#8243;\/&gt;<br \/>\n&lt;\/dhcp&gt;<br \/>\n&lt;\/ip&gt;<br \/>\n&lt;\/network&gt;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I hosed up the configuration of libvirt on Cinnamon, trying to change the network definition.
